Make it stand out.

My experience with the DCTF has been incredible. I first met John in Nov of 2017. I had just come into Hopes Horizon for opioid addiction in late October. And then I met with him and told him my story and that I needed help with funding, as I did not have a job and no family to help. John helped me and he also helped get my first job since coming in treatment. If it wasn’t for his help, I’m really not sure what I would have done. He taught me how to get back on my feet. He is one of the most caring, loving, and most genuine people I’ve ever met. I thank this foundation for everything they’ve done for me and also for others.

“Truly blessed from the best, is how I feel about the DCT Foundation - I am truly grateful and thankful for being able to be part of a program that has helped me beyond appreciation of recovery and opened by heart to a new way of life.”

“I was homeless on the streets of Baltimore. Day after day I did whatever it took to be well enough to be functional, getting high was just a memory. I was sleeping in abandoned houses, working for the dealers, stealing from stores, and even resorted to panhandling. These behaviors had become my whole life. After so long, I was done being tired, cold, hungry, lonely, and scared. I was brought to the point of hopelessness. On the night of September 6, 2018, I had dropped to my knees, and said a prayer "GOD PLEASE HELP ME". Approximately one hour later my prayer was answered. I had walked out of the abandoned house that I was in, and went to seek food for dinner, when I was approached by a volunteer who was with an outreach program. We spoke about resources, and my options for the help I was so desperately looking for. I had immediately surrendered. In the same night I was beginning my journey to sobriety, with a full stomach from Miss Patty's donated food, a funded scholarship for a recovery house, and a ride the next morning to do my intake at an outpatient rehabilitation center. I am forever grateful and blessed to have been presented with this opportunity, and appreciative of the help I have been given from John Torsch and the DCT Foundation for assisting me with saving my own life.”
